Wreath Making Workshop with Usal

  • The Farm 11740 Sherman Way Los Angeles, CA, 91605 United States (map)

Cost: $100

About Hannah:

Hannah is a flower farmer and florist growing on Tataviam land in North Hollywood. She has been arranging flowers for a living for almost ten years and farming them for three. Her approach is that of spiritual practice more so than a streamlined process to an end result, listening to the land and plants and working with them for a mutually beneficial outcome.

Objective:

As the days get shorter and we start spending more time indoors it is customary to place wreaths around the house. Over time the meaning of this act has been mostly forgotten but it was originally done as a way of providing nature spirits with a place to reside and protect the home during the dark days of winter. And so, in this workshop we will be working with California natives and locally abundant plants to create unique wreaths to take home and guard against any gloomy days ahead.

What's included:

Plant material, all the tools required, naturally dyed silk ribbon, home baked treats

What to bring:

Any natural objects special to you to accent your finished wreath ie. pine cones from your last camping trip, shells (with holes) from your favorite beach, feathers found on a hike
